What this does

Converts between narration word count and runtime in both directions, at a speaking rate you can tune. Script mode takes a whole narration draft split into segments by blank lines and gives you a duration for each one plus a running total, which is the part a generic words-per-minute calculator will not do.

When you’d reach for it

Writing to a fixed slot: an animation that runs ninety seconds, a screen recording you cannot lengthen. Planning a course timeline before any audio exists. Briefing voice talent, who price by finished runtime. Or checking whether one segment has quietly grown into two minutes of unbroken narration while the others sit at twenty seconds.

About the rates

The presets reflect what e-learning narration actually runs at. Around 140 words per minute is typical for corporate training; technical and compliance content is usually slower because the listener needs the extra processing time. Whatever number you pick, treat the result as a planning figure rather than a promise. Pauses, emphasis and breathing all consume time that a word count cannot see, so a script that calculates to exactly ninety seconds will usually record a little long.
